Question:

High pitched ringing coming from back of LCD monitor?

i recently setup a 2nd monitor using my old hp lcd from 2007 and there's this high pitched ring that comes from it when ever it is turned on, it is really annoying. When i turn the monitor off it goes away, but as soon as the picture comes up on the screen the noise starts. Is there anyway it can be fixed or is it just old? the specific monitor model is an hp w1907.Thanks

Answer:

Resistors tend to do this when being worn out. Its probably that especially if its an old monitor (not flat screen).
when tvs start getting old they tend to make a high pitch sound but don't worry ,the tv will continue working ,I know how annoying that noise can be :(
Most likely the inverter board. In tech terms, ringing in a coil or transformer Edit: And NO it is NOT a resistor NOR an old CRT monitor! Always somebody posting an answer when they know NOTHING about it. Some people need to stick with fixing sandwiches and stay OUT of this category.
