Answer:

Water cannot extinguish any liquid fuel fire because it is heavier than the fuel. Foam is the best agent to use on liquid fuel fires.
Airlock is just a word people use because they heard it somewhere. You ran it out of gas by adding a big slug of air to the fuel lines. You just need to get that air out before it will run again. The little bit it did run was from the gas still in the line after the filter.
the whole point of putting out a fire with water is to keep oxygen from burning because fire needs oxygen to burn when you try to put out a jet fuel fire all your doing is spreading the fuel around without stopping the oxygen from burning. the best way to put out a jet fuel fire or oil fire is to beat it with a towel or blanket trust me it works
It's a good idea to do so, even for an informal game with a few friends. Classic handball goggles used to be fashioned as plain goggles with small openings instead of lenses. That style was abandoned once it was realized that the high speed of handballs actually compressed the balls enough to penetrate through the goggle opening and seriously damage the orbital bones around your eye. Modern and effective goggles for handball and racquetball include polycarbonate lenses that protect your eyes. Ever been smacked in the eye with a handball? It can leave you with a black eye if nothing else.
The fuel is lighter, and will float on top of the fire and still burn. To put it out they mix the water with a chemical and spray it thru a special nozzle to make foam. This covers the fuel and smothers the flames. Its sort of like a big fire blanket.
