Question:

Home made moss-killer for garden path?

Does anyone know a home made recipy to clear moss from the garden path. I don't want to use the chemical stuff in the shops.

Answer:

Sprinkle cheap powdered laundry detergent on the moss. It doesn't have to have bleach or anything else. Just get the cheapest you can buy. Lightly sprinkle it on the moss, in a few days it will be dead. You still have to remove it but the detergent will kill it and not harm other plants as you don't have to use much. After you apply it, if it is not going to rain you can lightly water it, lightly.
lime does not kill moss. it sweetens the soil and help grass grow.
First of all, moss grows in shade. If the path is in shade, it's going to come back. Second of all, moss is an indication of a ph problem, and is killed with lime, which is NOT a chemical.
The least toxic way is to just scrape the moss off with a spatula and move it to another place in the yard. If it is a shady place, the moss will probably come back after a while, so you will have to repeat the process. I've also heard that you can put bleach in a spray bottle and spray it on the moss.
