Question:

How can I disable my 99 VW Jetta car alarm?

I‘m wondering how to disarm my car alarm for my VW Jetta. Normally, my remote car key would unlock all the doors, which would disarm the car alarm so that I can start my car. However, yesterday my purse was stolen with my car key in it, so now I have to use a spare key which doesn‘t have a remote. What I would normally do in this case would be to unlock all the doors (therefore dismarm the car alarm) by just hitting the unlock button on the inside of my driver‘s side door. BUT, that button hasn‘t been working. Basically, I can‘t use my spare key without having the alarm go off; that‘s connected to the starter, so I can‘t even drive my car. How can I disable the alarm without a remote key so that I may start my car and drive it to get the latch fixed? (By the way, if there is any other way to start my car, have at it.)

Answer:

try using the key in the passenger door get a flashlight and look under your steering wheel , on the walls in the area, for a little switch or button. its a kill switch. hold the button and and turn the key. most cars have a kill switch for the alarm some where inside
If the spare key has the transponder in it and it was coded into the car then you should be able to disarm and drive the car once the key is in the ignition and turned on. Check up the info in your handbook.
