Question:

How can I dye my area rug??

I have an off white area rug, it's older so I'm not interested in professional dyeing practices or paying a lot to get it done but I'd like to dye it black....is there any easy way for me to do that.. uld I use fabric dye or no??

Answer:

First of all, unless it's wool or cotton, it won't dye. Second of all Rit NEVER dyes anything black. It always comes out shades of gray.
Absolutely, fabric dye such as Rit will do a great job, however the size of the rug may present another problem. If it is larger, maybe mix up the recommended amount of dye, have the carpet outside on a tarp, pour the dye and use a squeegee or a brush to work the dye in. Hope this helps.
