I have a 2000 Toyota Camry, and my windshield wipers don‘t work. My mechanic said that if part CBS-1009 is replaced, that will do the trick. However, online, this part appears to be tied to the *turn signal* switch, not the windshield wiper switch. Is it possible that the left side (turn signal) switch operates the windshield wiper motor, or is the part that was isolated incorrect?

thats a lot of stress on that axle if its completely stock.

The turn signal switch and the windshield wiper switch is one unit, and can only be replaced as a unit. Your mechanic is correct!!!! But it could also be the wiper motor is bad.
bring it to another mechanic as your mechanic clearly did not do a good enough job explaining it to you. your fuse for the wiper motor could be blown or the motor itself is shot.or loose wiring could be a bunch of things.check the fuses first.
