Last night my 3 year old poured a bottle of black fingernail polish on the arm of our tan sofa. Any ideas on how to get it out??
The best thing would definitely be nail varnish remover. Test on an inconspicous area first.
properly... its no longer purely the fingernail polish that supplies the effect... it relies upon on the form you're dressed too.. i advise while you're gown in all black or some form of emo draggy dishevelled pants and shirts then human beings might think of which you're emo.. yet once you're wearing something like skinny denims and a t-shirt human beings might in all probability merely think of oh.... fingernail polish..it surely relies upon on the form you elect to coach it off too
Try spraying it with hairspray and then dab at it -it will take a long time to do but the spray will get it out slowly. You could try some fingernail remover on a spot on back of couch to see if it will ruin the color if not that might work too.
If this is a leather sofa please do not try nail varnish remover or any other solvent. You may be lucky and find that it peels off depending what type of leather you have. If it does it may still leave a mark or remove the colour. Nail varnish remover will definitely remove the pigment from your suite as well as the nail varnish, you will then have another difficult problem to resolve.
You don't say what fabric your sofa is covered with, if you are able to remove the cover I would advise taking it to a dry-cleaner and taking the bottle of nail varnish along with you so that they can give it a try.....if not then do a test patch with some acetone free nail varnish remover on a small spot of your sofa that is out of sight to check for colour fastness and then work slowly at the stain from the outside edges towards the centre....it may well look worse before it gets better....but best of luck!!!
