Answer:

Climbers caught in a snowstorm in a high mountain camp?
- Any building on lockdown, like if somebody threatened to bomb a place and they had to lock everybody inside-House trapped in a snowstorm-A subway car that's become trapped underground and the people can't get off.
The Chilean miners who were trapped underground for weeks immediately sprang to mindNot saying that it would necessarily have to be a mining disaster, but it could be a group of people who were potholing or caving or just carrying out geological research getting trapped undergroundAgatha Christie used a snowbound steam train for this purpose in Murder On The Orient ExpressI was also thinking of backpackers stranded in a tiny hostel somewhere because of floods or some other natural disaster.
The only way to harden an air-dry clay is to dry it You can speed up the drying of those types of clays by putting them in warm areas (even an oven on lowest heat), or by making air move around them more quickly (fan, etc), and by not putting them in humid areas (or cold ones)The thinner the item, the quicker it will dry too(Next time if you need quicker hardening, use a polymer clay and cure it in an oven :-)Or you can use an armature under an air-dry clay -a crumpled wad of aluminum foil for example- which will allow the clay to be thinner and therefore dry more quicklyAnd btw, true modeling clays can never be hardenedand if heated will only meltThose are the kinds of heavy plasticine clays in sticks that kids have been using for maybe 100 years (and ClayToons comes in bars) HTH, Diane B.
