Question:

How can I silence my smoke detector when I cook?

I have daily migraine headaches, always get them in noisy situations, the headache gets worse if I already have one. When I cook things in the oven at a temperature over 375 usually, the smoke alarm goes off. I understand that they are loud so they wake you up if you are sleeping, but how can I silence it ONLY when cooking? please some tips!

Answer:

Oakwhiz is correct. It is also worth noting that the amount of radioactive material in your smoke detector is really tiny, and poses no danger to your health. You get a higher dose of radiation just by going outside than you get from your smoke detector.
I don't love them but they are absolutely necessary to slow down people that drive like maniacs.
Studs are plenty wide to secure both sheets. Why mess with perfection? Use factory edges on the joints when you can and place the screws next to each other.. If you don't secure the joints properly. they will open. If you don't center the panel over a stud , just add a nailer like paul h suggested.
