Question:

How did people clean upholstery like sofas?

I am interested in the old days of cleaning before vacuums and all that or people that lived in mountains that didn't have that sort of thing. How did they clean the sofa if they couldn't remove it and it was all one piece like today we have vacuums 2 do that

Answer:

you can clean with 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water dry with a towel.
They used to beat the dust out like they did carpets They hung the carpet on the line and beat it
Depending the date of the old days, remember at one time, sofas were made of horse hair and had hay in the middle. People did not use the parlor living room because that was for Sunday or when special people visited. These were likely never cleaned, maybe dusted. It hasn't been that long that we have had sofas and living rooms. Nancy
