Ceramic tile is best very easy to maintain. Wood laminate, is a different effect not that hard to maintain either, it depends on what effect you are going for and blend against your walls.

Ceramic is easy maintain. It's not that hard to install yourself if you arethe handy type. Laminate looks well, like laminate its ok if you like that sort of thing. I like real hardwood in bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms. Ceramic, slate or stone for kitchens, baths and entryways.
Personally I would never use laminate flooring. It looks fake. And you are right, ceramic is easy to maintain, and if you pick warm colors, it will look really rich.
