i know some basics about the medici bank in italy but not why they formed it, how they formed it, what they did, and how they collected money from the church and gained power during the renaissance.
The banking industry really evolved out of a process of lending money out at interest. The Medici family was not the first into banking but seemed to figure out how to be more successful at it than many others. The Medicis were well-placed in society, over time and space, politically and religiously. Best to read from my source material. It is an interesting read and if you get your own copy (it was still available in the 1990's) you may be able to use it for further work if you continue on in the discipline of history. You need to know that there is a connection between the Medicis and Machiavelli.
