I ride to school every day with my backpack on; unless you put lead weights in your backpack or you are a complete beginner, you shouldn't have any issue. In terms of gear, I wear a multipurpose jacket, so I just get off the bike and wear the jacket into class (the only people who really notice it are other motorcycle riders). Gloves go in your helmet; helmet goes next to your seat. You can try buying a carrying bag for the thing, but in the end, it's easier and less hassle to just carry it. In terms of pants, if you are just interested in the looks, I suppose you could wear a pair of jeans inside of the pants and then just switch when you get to class. Personally, I find my riding pants comfortable enough to wear anywhere, so problem solved there. I ride a ninja 250r (2009). Gets around from class to class without any issue, but some people prefer the larger engines. Your call. Safety gear is designed to be comfortable to ride around in, which implies most of it is comfortable to walk around in casually. Final note; enjoy the bike, not how people think you look on the bike.
