Question:

How do I convert the shifting/braking system of a tri bike to that of a road bike?

Can I just get some drop handlebars and brake levers and leave my mechanic to do the rest? Mostly, I‘d like to know what I need to buy. I have a Trek equinox 7 that I want to convert to a roadie for group rides. Thanks!

Answer:

more than likely another bad tranny.
you have an outside problem causing the transmission to fail
along with the aforementioned, you will also need shifters- there are many different kinds of these for cow prodders. also, its more than likely that you may need a new bar end and seat post (due to the new steeper body position/angle). your mechanic may have these: bar end tape, housing, brake cables, cork etc.
