Question:

how do i get over my fear of heavy machinery?

i can't use a sewing machine, i can't drive a car, i can't operate anything that makes a lot of noise and has death written all over it. the worst part is that i'm a guy, and i can't do manly stuff like sewing me together some pants. lol

Answer:

Go take Behavior therapy. it teaches you to overcome your fear and ecr. You should also use Gradual exposure. Basically, just go to a phychologist because that will help you more. -phyc major
if it was me i would do everything gradually reminding myself i am the master and you are the slave to me ...Everything you mentioned is just a tool to be used worn out and discarded nothing magical and surely nothing to be afraid of .. Just work with it and it will all work out
lol. nice. okay heres what you do. 1. buy some cheap electronic thing thats bigger than a loaf of bread 2. go somewhere remote where no one can see/hear you 3. since you cant drive, go to your basement instead 4. if you dont have a basement, come up with a good explanation to give to your neighbors for what ur about to do. 5. get a baseball bat or something heavy and hard. 6. beat the elctronic thing and scream I AM STRONGER!!!!! 7. apologize to neighbors. or you could sit in a car untill you get used to it. then when you can do that, sit in the car while its on. once you can do that, sit in your friends car while he backs it out of the driveway. when you can do that, go to a monster truck show. once youve got that done... uhm, go get ur liscence.
Hi Vampire, A healthy fear of machinery is a GOOD thing. However, when it starts to affect your everyday life, it's time to talk to someone. A good therapist can really work wonders.
