Question:

how do i hang/wire a chandelier?

im confused which wires are what, theres two wires...no colors?

Answer:

Made in China with the lead painted toys and poison toothpaste. Are there clear wires on the fixture? Look closely at the wire inside. Some times one is gold and one is silver. In that case the gold is for the hot wire and the silver is for the neutral. The fixture will work connected either way, but it is best if the hot wire goes to the center contact on the ends of the bulbs. You can use a continuity meter to check that very easily and find which is the hot wire. Are there colors in your ceiling box? You can use a volt meter to sort those out. Good luck.
There is a difference between the wires. One of the wires should have a ridge along its entire length. This is the neutral (white) wire. The neutral connects to the shells of the sockets and the hot wires to the center. once you peel the two wire apart you will see that one has little ridges that should be the neutral. the other way is to use a ohm or continuity meter. The center part of a light socket is the hot. neutral goes to white the other to black. good luck and i hope that this is a help to you
Aren't you legally supposed to have an electrician do this?
I need to know is the wires silver brass colors the silver should be the hot wire .If you live in the states call me at mike'sdiy 301-784-6227 ill walk you through it step by step.
To do it right you need a continuity tester to figure which wire is what in the socket and definitely need a grounding wire.Call an electrician.
