Question:

How do I record a show on window media center, if im watching something else on my cable box?

I have it hooked up to my Comcast Cable Box and Im trying to record a show. But when I set my computer to record a show such as 'that 70's Show' I have to be watching the channel that it is on. Isnt their a way for it to record something im not currently watching???

Answer:

Call your cable company or look it up online at there site.
I USE A SPLITTER TO FEED ONE CABLE TO MY PC AND THE OTHER TO MY CABLE BOXTHEN I JUST USE THE MEDIA CENTER GUIDE LIST TO RECORD WITH.THE PREMIUM CHANNELS DO NOT COME UP BUT SO MANY OTHERS DO
From what you describe, you have a single-tuner in your computer. If this program is not on digital cable, (and you still want to use your computer for watching tv as well), you will have to get a 2nd tv-tuner card. That way, 1 tuner can tune regular cable channels, and the other can control your digital cable box (i assume). It's kinda like Picture-in-Picture: you need 2 tuners for that also.
