Question:

How do I remove a car alarm? Need help urgently!?

I‘m not even sure what type of alarm it is but I know its not factory. I broke the only remote that we have and now I can‘t get the car to start.I already tried looking at the ignition wires and I‘m clueless as to how to get it started again. Please help with diagram if possible.

Answer:

The only thing you need to do to disable it is unplug the main alarm brain and then reconnect where the starter bypass was performed. This is usually done at the steering column. Look for (in most cars) large wires, 12-gauge or so under the column. You should find one that has been cut and two wires from the alarm has been attached, probably via butt connectors. You can follow these wires into a relay or back directly to the alarm. You just cut the wires and splice the original wire back together.
You do realize that the melting point of copper is like 1000 degrees, right?
If it is an after fit alarm you will find that it would cut at least two circuits, possibly three. To remove it the first thing you do is identify the alarm unit and follow the wires, you may need to undo the insulating tape around the loom. At this stage do not cut any wires. You must see where each wire goes to. All wires that go to earth and all wires that connect directly (piggy back style) onto other wires can be pulled out to one side - do not disconnecct at this point. Now identify wires that go to led lamps, alarm switches, dash control buttons, in fact any alarm unit. Pull these to one side - do not disconnect yet. This should leave you with either two, four or six wires that are the cuts on the car. See where these wires connect. They probably will connect about a foot away from your key on the car switch loom. You will need to check the colours of the car loom to see which wires are cut. If you can confidenlty identify a wire that has been cut (and connected to an alarm wire) and you can see both ends of the cut then it is now time to rejoin the cut. Basically you must make sure that you only rejoin wires of the same colour (e.g black with red trace must only join back to black with red trace) After you have done the first cut cut identify the second cut to be rejoined. Do the second cut as the first. Hopefully there will only be two cuts. If there are three then do the same again. You should now be in a position where the car should start and run. If the cars runs ok you can cut the remaining wires from the alarm. Cut them close to where they join the car loom making sure you insulate the exposed cable. All that is left is to remove any alarm units such as led lights or switches. Job done. It may be best to get professional help if you are not too sure.
