How do i Uninstall a Kill switch/ car alarm on my ford ranger?

The alarm is much to sensitive and I‘ve had the truck for 2 days and i have already came out of my apartment complex only to find a police officer calling a tow truck.please helpthanks,Kelly

Answer:

If the problem is the alarm is going off you can usually disable it if it is aftermarket. Is the horn blowing or is there an aftermarket siren? If it is an aftermarket siren a temporary fix while you figure out what to do with it is to cut the wires going to the aftermarket siren. At least the police wont show up. Other than that you could have a lot of electrical problems if you do not take it in and have it uninstalled properly. I suggest a car audio/alarm store versus factory due to cost and the factory guys are necessarily better than the audio store guys. You might even be able to have it fixed so it isn't so sensitive and still have an alarm. That would be up to you. Good luck.
Wow sorry to hear that, I see why. O.K. you can simply cut the wire going to the kill switch and that will stop it for good.Just make sure that does not effect any other elect. Components. You can also take it to the dealer have them remove it, or take our truck to an automotive alarm shop and have them remove every part of the alarm altogether, this is the safest way, Call around gets some prices to see what they will charge for that. MY concern is ford company is famous for integrating other elect. components with the alarm. if its factory. If its aftermarket type of alarm you can just cut both the lead wire and the ground wire going to the switch. Good luck my friend I hope this will help.
An aftermarket alarm is going to have sensors that are tunable. Trace the wires from the battery terminal to the alarm brain and look for the sensors that hook up to it. Most these sensors will have a small dial to increase and decrease sensitivity. It sounds like you might have a glass break sensor that is going off. If you slap your keys against the glass around the car does it set off the alarm easily? If so its definitely the sensor. You want to decrease that sensitivity so that its just below where it was going off when you slap the keys against the glass. If your not into trying to fix the alarm then I would do as said before and find the fuse that links to the alarm brain and pull that.
