Question:

How do we secure the sink/counter to the bathroom vanity?

We bought a vanity set from Home Depot for our bathroom. It came with the base (vanity) and a counter/sink piece to sit on top. We don't see anyway to secure the counter to the vanity. It just sits there. But it rocks a little actually. Seems like it should stay in place somehow other than because the faucet is attached to the plumbing. How do we do this? It didn't come with any pieces, and maybe it should have come with directions we don't have. Thanks

Answer:

You put a bead of construction adhesive on the top edge of the vanity, and a couple spots on the wall where the counter touches the wall. Set it in place and let it dry for 24hr.
Countertop to vanity - if it is laminate or wood, you screw it on with small screws from the bottom up into the laminate - make sure the screws aren't too long or they will poke up through the laminate, ruining your countertop. Sink to laminate - kitchen/bath adhesive caulk Marble or solid surface sink/counter to vanity - kitchen/bath adhesive caulk. The plumbing and its weight will hold it in place.
i place about an inch of caulk at all four corners, if you ever need to take if off it would be almost impossible if you caulk the entire edges. other than that its just the weight of it that keeps it in place. (the vanity cabinet should be attached to the wall with screws) place the vanity top in place, do not push down too hard or all the caulk will be pressed out and it could still rock a little. caulk around where the vanity top meets the wall to keep out water.
