Question:

How do you get blood out of clothes?

I have blood on a pair of jeans and a white button down shirt (60% cotton/40% polyester) and am wondering what to do to get the blood stains out.

Answer:

THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER 1 NEVER NEVER USE HOT WATER on a blood stained cloth as it will cook the blood and will just help to set the stain permanently. 2 DO NOT DRY ON HIGH HEAT if any stains remain. 3 ALWAYS WET THE STAIN COMPLETELY - It's best to wash the stain when it is fresh and always use cold water. And if the stain is older then 24hrs then soak the stained cloth in cold water for at least an hour before you start your stain removal process. TIPS TO REMOVE THE BLOOD STAINS OUT OF CLOTHES MAGIC BY SHAMPOO Pour some amount of shampoo on the stain and then wet the cloth with cold water and scrub with any brush or your hands till the blood starts lifting or coming out. Keep scrubbing the area hard between your fists, with your palms facing each other. After the scrubbing soak the cloth for 2 hours and then wash it normally. If the stain still remains repeat the process. MAGIC BY SALT Soak the cloth as soon as possible in cold water. Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt to the cold water and keep changing the water until it is clear. In the end wash the cloth by using your regular washing detergent and remember not to dry on high heat. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE Wet the stain with cold water. Take a bowl and fill it with hydrogen peroxide. Next try and put the stained area in the bowl and let it sit it for at least 15 20 minutes. After just remove the cloth from the bowl and wash normally with cold water. The stain will disappear easily and without using much effort. VINEGAR You can use vinegar to remove blood stains quickly. Just apply the vinegar directly to the stain and blot. When the stain is removed, blot again with a damp cloth to remove the smell. In the end wash as usual with the cold water.
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/ayzHh Note: Hot water will set blood stains if fresh. * Fresh Stains - 1. First - Rinse as much of the blood out in cold water . 2. Then - wash as normal with general laundry liquid or powder in cold water. ** Set Stain - Blood oxidizes to Iron / yellowy stain:- 1. Treat with lemon juice salt or vinegar let stand 1/2 hr then rinse twice. (do not wash with Alkali chemical before rinsing). 2. Then wash as normal with laundry powder or liquid and rinse. Good luck!!
ONLY IF RECENT/ BARELY DRY OR STILL WET put it in the bathtub or shower, rince it with a spray of cold water for a few minutes. Then turn up the heat to 36-45° celcius. It'll just flow off. Every time some bloodspray hits the shirts while stitching up wounds, we finish stitching, go out pull of the shirt, put another on, and a nurse/doctor not working will go into a breakroom to do this in the sink (works every time). On dress shirts and button up cotton shirts. Don't use it on the Tie though.
