Question:

how do you get the smell of cat urine out of a leather sofa?

My gf's cat won't stop pissing on the leather sofa. I finally threw it out and got a new one and sure enough, w/in 2 days, he pissed on it again. I soaked the thing w/ the Nature's Miracle orange solution and scrubbed but i can still smell it. I sprayed it w/ the deterrant so he hasn't done it since that first time on the new one but i'd really like to get this couch not smelling like cat piss. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Its not pretty, but I've tried it on fake leather... Smear used coffee grounds all over your sofa, while the grounds are still wet... and let them sit for half an hour, and then vacuum, and wipe them off. It also works for tobacco smoke
two things your can use... Put it on the seams and down in the cracks where the urine ran. Peroxide and pure Alcohol.. will get rid of the smell. Alcohol is flamible so be careful and test it on a hidden area so it doesn't remove color on the couch. if you cat is a NON NEUTERED male it is marking it's territory... HAVE HIM NEUTERED... This might be why it is peeing like this/ also he may have a slight case of crystals in the urinary tract which causes them to try to go constantly. (give cranberry pills)
to get rid of urine stains and scent from leather-based, use a comfortable dish detergent and water. in case you may, first get rid of the cushion and the stuffing. utilising a sparkling, absorbent textile, blot up any extra urine. combination a million/2 teaspoon liquid dish detergent in a quart of warmth water. Beat with a mixer. sparkling the furniture utilising basically the suds. do no longer overwet the leather-based. utilising a sparkling sponge, soak the sponge and wring it out as much as you may. Then utilising basically the suds, wash the finished section. Wipe, do no longer scrub. in case you have been waiting to get rid of the stuffing, you may scrub the backside of the leather-based and then use a towel to help dry the section. utilising yet another new sponge and sparkling water, wipe the finished floor of the leather-based at the same time because it continues to be damp to get rid of as lots of the detergent as available. Wash the stuffing in case you may, then place it decrease back interior the cushion, leaving a dry towel between the stuffing and the leather-based till it is all thoroughly dry.
Sounds okorder / I would have a professional take a look at that sofa, most will guarantee their work and for a new sofa it's worth it. Good Luck!
You already have some good answers here, but I would add to ban the cat!
