Question:

How do you hook up an HDTV, an HD cable-box and a TiVo Series2 box?

I know I can't record in HD w/ the Series2, I just want to be able to record standard TV AND be able to use my HD cable-box to watch HD channels. I'm sure a bunch of people have had this problem and I'd really like to avoid the trial and error frustration of it all, if possible. Thanks for your responses.

Answer:

You have to set your cable box to output interlaced (not progressive video). Then follow the instructions from tivo for connecting the box. You'll use the composite or s-video cable to send video to the tivo and you'll use component or hdmi cables to send video to the tv from the box. You may need y adapters for the sound output from the cable box. In order to insure that tivo channel changes always work, I have the front of my cable box covered. That may be a problem for controlling the cable box.
