Question:

how do you make a rug stay in place when its on carpet?

my carpet ripples up and i cannot make the rug straight unless i pick up the furniture and pull on it. I'm getting tired of doing this! HELP!

Answer:

there are many types of rug grips to put under area rug. while they will help, they are not going to end all your creeping problems. also, if you have a rug on top of a rug, you want to make sure that you are moving the area rug an vaccuming under it also. the backing om the area rug is very abasive, and will eventually start wearing the nap on the installed piece, kind of like rubbing sandpaper over the spot again and again, the rug grips are available in different sizes, and can usually be purcharched thru most reputable flooring companies

Rug Stay
Is the carpet rippled all the time or just when you move the furniture? That can be caused by not having the carpet stretched properly when it was installed, from having part of the tack strip that holds it in place missing (removed, damaged, etc), or from the carpet just being old and worn out. If the carpet under your area rug is rippling up you need to get the carpet re-stretched and attached properly. After that's done you can use double sided tape or even Velcro to keep an area rug where you want it.
instead of tape which will leave a residue you can velcro closures. put one on the carpet and one on the rug it'll hold nicely just to walk across.
