Question:

How do you multiply brackets?

Hey, so i have some maths homework and it's called multiplying brackets and says i need to expand and simplify! I really need some help on how to do it, i've had a really hard weekend and i forgot how to do it!

Answer:

They are like parenthesis like ( and ) . You distribute the first number and sign to the left of the [ to the inside numbers. Ex: -2[3-2x] -6+4x
Can you provide an example of the problem? if if understand your question correctly you're asking how you would solve something like this 2(3+4+5) Essentially you're using the distributive property to multiply the number touching the parenthesis (or brackets) to all numbers within the bracket. 2(3+4+5) can be written as 2*3+2*4+2*5 2*3 6 2*4 8 2* 5 10 6+8+10 24 2[3(4+5)] is done in a similar way, you start with the outermost bracket and distribute to ALL numbers inside the square bracket. 2*3(4*2+5*2) 6(8+10) 48+60 108
how about a sample problem?
