Question:

How do you pull yourself out of a blue funk?

...and no, Miss Blue is not in a funk, just asking seniors what they do to get over the blues...lolY/A wanted this in the category of Home and Garden. (DIY-do it yourself.) I am dying laughing here over that one. I suppose we got the answer....just do it yourself! roflmbo

Answer:

I grab myself by the posterior and shake it like all get-out. That usually does the trick but if I am unsure I get my old Roan saddled and head for the South Pasture or the River Pasture By the time I am through talking to this old worn-out cowhand I have my head screwed on straight again and I am at peace with the world. Some how, out there by myself, I separate those things that I can change from those things that I can not change and everything just sorta comes into focus. After I have come to grips with everything and separated reality from foolish thinking I am well on the trail to recovery and in the distance, if I squint, I can see the silver lining around the edges of the dark clouds.
I get outside and take the dogs for a walk, ride my bicycle or putter around with the flower beds. If the weather is nasty I clean house or do something constructive. Activity always does the trick. Keep the body moving and the mind will cure itself of the blue funk.
Home and Garden was a good hint. One thing that I like to do when in a lousy humor is to pull weeds. The exercise is good, it clears your head and the weeds get pulled. Something good comes from it. Any kind of exercise helps you to feel better and getting away from wherever you are when you are feeling blue, will change the way that you see things. If it is all just too yukky, I take a nap.
Just had a wicked bad case of the blue meanies myself. Watching the Presidential Inauguration lifted my spirits immensely! Think of the stories all those folks ling The Mall in the Capitol will have to tell! Truly uplifting and inspiring! You can't have an historical event in your life, so get up and get active. Fill those bird feeders, sweep the sidewalk, walk the dogs. Clean clutter or read a funny book. Depression stinks! Don't let it win!!
walk every day. keep positive thoughts dont bother with negative people thank god everyday for my home, garden and 2x kids. How could i be sad after that.
