It depends on how hot you want it, if you put t directly over you it will get really warm, while if you put it over another sheet or blanket, you'll still be warm, but it acts as a heat diffuser.
A new one I've been using is pinning safety pins in the inside seams of my clothes. I suppose you could do the same to blankets. I haven't come up with anything for my hair, other than putting a little conditioner on my dry hair (Avon used to sell something, but I think they stopped it).
I don't know the same problem is happening to me
