Question:

How do you remove the axle from a hub with sealed cartridge bearings?

It‘s a rear Velocity hub, if that makes a difference. After removing the lock ring, I see a nut on each end of the axle. Do I just put 15 mm cone wrenches on both nuts and turn them in opposite directions? (My ultimate goal is to remove the freehub body.)

Answer:

Yes, just loosen those nuts. But be careful because, when i did that, the little ball bearings started spilling out all over the place.
ya, once you get one of the lock nuts off, take that other nut off and the axle should slide right out.
if your a begginer try autobahn.their cheap and great.well not cheap but not expensive.
I am not exactly sure about Velocity hubs, but there may be a special tool needed to remove the bearings themselves. Phil Wood hubs, for example, require a special tool as do a few others.
