Question:

How does tin foil work?

I just took tin foil out of a 425 degree oven and it's cool to the touchI'm just curious as to how it worksFoil can heat up enough to burn the bottoms of cookies but can be touched straight from the oven.

Answer:

The thin aluminum foil is able to conduct and dissipate the heat almost instantaneouslyYou can even touch foil on a pan top that is still in the ovenAluminum is often used in the electronics industry to capture and wick away heat from sensitive electronic components due to this quality .
Small arms fire, RPG's, mines, pretty much you name itEven the 7.62x39mm ball ammunition from an AKM will penetrate the sides at very close range.
