Question:

How good is a copper sink ?

I am looking to replace a bathroom sink and looking at a hand made hammered copper sink. The price is right about 110.00 and the color is perfect for my bathroom as well. How are these sinks in terms of quality and wear ?

Answer:

Sounds like you got a great deal Jawombka! Copper is beautiful and functional. It is naturally antibacterial for a healthier sink which also makes it easy to clean and maintain. It does not rust. Copper will clean easily and over time will acquire a lovely patina (it will age gracefully!). Wash with soap and water and use a soft sponge or cloth. Never use an abrasive or harmful chemical cleaner. Be careful using acidic products – like whitening toothpaste – and wash out the sink fully after use to minimize spotting. As the copper finish ages, the patina may experience a color variation. It is part of the process and do not use a metal polish on those spots. The light and dark tones will complement each other.
Copper Sinks set the standard in quality as far as sink materials go. You cannot go wrong.
Just wait until crackheads break into your house and steal it. Then you'll feel the fool.
