Question:

how is cement powder turned into cement?

i know it's by adding water but what happenes to it tom make it turn into cement?Thank you!

Answer:

First of all its Portland power and then aggregate (rock) and a little sand. when its mixed a chemical reaction occurs and it binds it all together and dries then its cement
Cement hardens when mixed with water because of a complex chemical reaction that takes place. So the short answer is chemical reaction. Cement powder is mixed with aggregate, sand, and water ot make concrete. Roads, driveways, sidewalk, etc. are all made out of concrete. Cement is one of the ingredients in concrete. Cement is the ingredient that makes concrete get hard. You want the concrete to cure not dry. You must keep it moist for the curing (chemical reaction) to complete.
I worked a summer for them while in college.) If you read the info you'll learn how rock is ground into cement and what additives go into the mix to change it's characteristics. Some additives make it harden faster or slower, some give it color, some do other things. The basic ingredients for concrete are cement, sand, aggregate, and water. The proportions of each make different quality of cement for different uses. Check it out.
