Question:

How is resin superior to vinyl for BJD dolls?

I hear thunderous praise for resin BJDs and how superior the material is to vinyl. I have resin BJDs as well as full vinyl BJDs from various companies and I only find resin majorly inferior to vinyl. Not only does resin photograph poorly in any lighting, but it is fragile and yellows fast. Also it's way too heavy a material for dolls. In fact I see no redeeming qualities there to justify the use of such crap material instead of vinyl. The dolls are costly because it is difficult and laboursome to work with this really bad material. So is it just like the story of emperors new clothes, people just think it's superior because the dolls cost a lot and they've been told it is supposed to be all that and then some? Or can somebody tell me what exactly are the reasons why resin is so superior to vinyl?

Answer:

yes the components are frail and give warnings to even fold it over itself while in operation a fire hazard as well
Center is definitely not a lock. You could make a good argument for any of Wilt, Bill Russell, or Kareem, perhaps Hakeem and Shaq. The rest are debatable. I'd argue if you exclude present players (LeBron and Durant), Bird has the strongest lock. Who else was at Bird's level? Mention Jordan or Magic and people will mention Kobe, Oscar, or West who are often top 10 players. Maybe Stockton too who has more assists than Magic. It's harder to think of another top 10 ATF SF, although you could argue for Dr. J. If current players are counted, Jordan has the strongest lock. He's the GOAT and Kobe and Wade are usually not considered as good. Magic maybe less of a lock considering all the good PGs there are these days. PF is not really a lock. I agree Duncan was the best but you could argue for Barkley, both Karl and Moses Malone, Garnett, or Dirk.
