Question:

how long can turkey be refrigerated?

I just bought an organic turkey from trader joes, and it says keep refrigerated-Best by 11-30-09I thought turkey can only be refrigerated for 1-2 days or else bacteria will start to multiplyI don't want to freeze it since this turkey has never been frozen and we want to try it that waythanks!

Answer:

Don't open the packaging until you're ready to begin preparation for cooking; that will keep out any foreign contaminantsTHEN salt it inside and out and submerge it in a deep bowl/pot of water overnight (inside the refrigerator) on Wednesday nightCooked turkey will last up to two weeks in the refrigerator if kept wrapped tight in saran wrap or aluminum foil; you want to keep all air out of the wrapping as much as possibleIf you want the REAL final word, call the Butterball hotline; they have a website as well.
Smiley I picked up a couple of trays of pork bone off cuts to make a pasta sauce, they cost me $1.98 per tray, only wanted them really for flavorThe last two days I have been making ravioli and gnocchi (homemade)Wife comes back Saturday from vacation and have the boys here Sunday for lunchI am going to make a Tiramisu, picked up the lady fingers today, mascapone, cream also a new bottle of MarsalaI am going to attempt a triple layered Tiramisu, the kids love it, they don't even leave me any leftovers for breakfast.
