how long does a typical lcd monitor last???How can i make mine last longer?

Answer:

i had mine for 6 years now, its it still works great
The fluorescent backlight is typically rated 50,000 hours. Divide that by your average usage per day, and divide that by 365 days per year. How many years do you end up with? Life could be shortened by physical damage, mechanical wear (connectors), over rated components (cheap), or technology could change before then. I have a laptop purchased January 2000 that still works. And it ran for a couple of years straight 24/7 as a wireless terminal (dual boot Win98se/Linux) for a Linux PC without monitor in my basement. But it does not have enough RAM or hard drive space to make it worth upgrading and the company that made its video chip went out of business a year after I bought it. We have only had 1 monitor failure at work, and that may have been an internal mechanical failure of the VGA connector (bad solder connection?).
