Question:

How long until a honking car-horn CAR ALARM kills the battery?

This afternoon, I heard a car alarm going for about 15 minutes. (Yep, very annoying! heh) It‘s the type that‘s tied in to the car‘s horn, so that when the alarm goes off, it makes the horn honk/beep every second or so. I‘ve heard that car horns draw a lot of electricity from the battery, so I wondered how long an alarm of this type would have to keep going, before it resulted in a dead battery? Minutes? Hours? Also, would this cause the horn to burn out, or would that only happen if the horn was making one solid blare of noise with no breaks in-between?As usual, just curious! :)

Answer:

it would take quite a while for just the horn to wear down the battery. the horn doesn't draw that much current especially in short blasts. I think the horn will start to make some funny sounds if it were to go off continuously. Usually, alarms have a timer in them so it should shut off automatically after a while if it is not reset. If it were flashing the parking lights also it would draw the battery down faster but still your talking many hours of the horn honking to drain a battery.
lol ahahaha. I have not any clue. Me and my chum did that when just to be humorous. I deliver it to concepts very of course. This guy grow to be interior the vehicle with like 3 different dudes, and that they have been honking and hollering and that i grow to be so bored stiff i began out leaping and waving and that i'm like nooo do not bypass away us! And my chum grow to be working all greater beneficial sluggish and retarted in announcing in a warped voice coooooome baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!, and whilst they got here returned around to chat to us we pointed the middle finger at them. i'm like if i'm not yet another motor vehicle, do not f*^ing beep.
