Question:

how long will waterline copper pipe last under dirt?

used for waterline from water meter to house

Answer:

It really depends on the soil in your area. Local plumbers should be able to tell you what will work. Where we live they direct bury copper pipe all the time for water lines.
My copper supply from well was under dirt for 54 years. My 3 main copper drain just split on the bottom.
My experience so far tells me that you will never have to worry about it It has done nothing but the best for me for 45 years of using it. Our meters in the country where I live are usually the problem be cause you eventually end up about the dirt level in the ground, But I haven't even seen copper give it up there yet.but I have seen plastic freeze at that point. But I can say only good things about it. I haven't kept up with the price, but it should be down a little right now, i would thinkaccording to the stock marketWe just roll it out in one piece from the meter to the first shut offand back fill.that way there's no joints to worry about. You can buy a few bags of sand to back fill with so no big rocks get against it,,,,,,and after that enjoy. Have a happy Holiday.
