Question:

How much can electrical wiring affect a persons notion that paranormal activity is happening in their house?

I saw a show about how it can affect the way you feel temperature, and light touches. There were a few cases in which the electrical wiring needed to be fixed, and that ultimately resolved the situation of the supposed paranormal. Anybody experienced this?

Answer:

Phyrekis,Ruling out any electrical problems, they do say that spirits are attracted to electromagnetic fields. Most paranormal investigators use an EMF detector to find these fields to rule out these fields that are generated by lights, pipes and any electrical appliances. Most feel when the temperature drops in a room it can indicate a spirit that has manifested it's self.Often there will be cold spots.I've had several experiences over my life time and when a spirit is present you can actually feel a coldness and the hairs on your arms can stand up.That's why investigators try and get readings in a room to rule this out first before they come to any conclusion that this could be spiritual. I would try to discover the History of your house. Maybe you can figure out why you're experiencing all this if you knew who lived there. If your bed is shaking, try moving it to a different corner of the room or choose a different area to sleep. Has your girlfriend and step-daughter experienced any of the paranormal activity? Just curious Good luck.
I have heard that when it rains or an electrical storm is in progress, that paranormal activity can happen easier. Bad wiring can play a big role in playing tricks on peoples heads, and funny scary feelings, it's to do with the EMF output it gives off. ~
Yes, the garage in my building is very weird. There's a laundry room and I go in there to wash clothes and I always feel like I'm being watched. It's not a paranormal feeling though. I don't sense any spirits down there or anything like that. The garage is pretty empty as far as feeling goes, it's mainly a space for storage, cars and trash bins. I noticed that right behind me in the ceiling are a lot of electric lines and a square box almost directly aligning with me when I am putting clothes in the wash, at which point my back is turned. When I am putting clothes in the dryer, I am out of view of that box and I don't feel watched then. It took me a while to figure it out because although I've heard of EMF's having this effect on people, I'd never experienced it for myself. For a while there I just thought it was really odd and thought that maybe I was just afraid of other tenants sneaking up on me. The feeling persists but I ignore it now. Once I determined for myself that it wasn't paranormal, I was less bothered by it.
There is a school of thought that says high EMF (Electromagnetic fields) in homes or small spaces can cause the inhabitants to experience paranoia, nausea, headaches, nighmares, insomnia, and even (in extreme cases) hallucinations. When you have that feeling of being watching in your own home or have nightmares on a regular basis, you start to believe your home is haunted. By fixing the high EMF through repairing wiring or even moving furniture away from areas of high EMF you can lower the EMF you're subjected too and the feelings go away. Also, sometimes your lights flickering really is just the lights flickering or your tv turning itself on is just a faulty wire and not a message from beyond the grave. By ensuring that your wiring is not the problem you can rule out that as a reason for ghosts. By ruling out EMF and electrical problems as possible reasons for the possible haunting, you can tell whether you have a ghost in your house or just need an electrician.
