Question:

how much do new windshield wipers?

how much do they cost to fix not just getting new ones but if they don't work at all please answer thanks :D

Answer:

a mecanic will charge you 500 to walk in the door, figure 1500 to 3000 depending on the car. Maybe 300 dollars to replace everything if you buy the parts and do it yourself. it is probably just a relay or the motor.not to bad price wise. 30 bucks for an average relay, 150 for a motor that has delay. It might be real easy and be the controler, 30 to 100 dollars.
Thanks for the information about RainX. I got my cars' oil change about a month ago. They check for everything, including windsheild wipers. My car is a 2009,and I have to check the wipers more often because the heat of the summer down where I live , makes the wiper blades break faster.
If your wipers don't work it could be the switch, fuse, motor or wiper transmission. Prices to repair them vary greatly from car to car. Start with the fuse if you haven't already done so. If that's not the problem and you don't feel qualified to fix it take it to a shop. Once you have a diagnosis and price then call around if you wish to see how it compares to other shops. If they don't work at all and you didn't have any warning signs, it's probably the fuse, motor or transmission. The transmission is the series of rods inside the firewall that the motor uses to drive the wiper arms. These don't go bad too often and usually make a lot of noise before and during their failure. Good luck I don't know where Bobby got his prices but they are way out of line on what garages charge. $500 just to walk in? $1500-3000 for wipers, not even the Cadillac dealer could get away with that. Whichever is bad shouldn't cost more than $300 with labor.
