Question:

how much does it cost to replace a wiring harness for a 1999 mustang?

i bought it yesterday today a bunch of fuses blew. i went to the ford dealership after my friend check the mechanical and said it was very strong well i went to the ford dealership (i bought it from a used car dealer not ford dealership) they gave me some frightening news they had worked on it for the dealership i bought it from. (and they knew it had wiring problems) that is a good thing for me (tennessee state law states when a sale is made and a dealer with holds information about issues about the car the dealer is responsible whether its an as is sale or not) so i'm relieved to know they have to fix it but i was hoping to know what all needs fixed and how much because i will repair it and sue because i cant be with out my car for the lenght of legal issues.

Answer:

Saying wiring harness is very general. What part of the harness! Replacing the entire harness would cost a couple thousand at least and most likely not necessary. What problem is it having??
You could probabaly find a used harness at a wrecker. They're not terrible to replace. Just off the top of my head you could do it for a couple hundred bucks and a few hours . Ford would sell you a new one for about 800 and charge you 300 to install it.
It might NOT be the wiring harness. Use a flashlight. Inspect the FUSE Boxvery carefully.look for broken sections. Pull all the fuses.and look again. If you next find it could be the wiring harness. Consider the steering column./ That's about what I would try.
Tennessee may also have a law that the car can be returned within 24 hrs if there is a problem and you are not satisfied. What you haven't mentioned is simply Are you experiencing problems ? Good Luck whatever happens.
