Question:

How much does it cost to replace the copper pipe (and freon) in an air conditioning unit?

Some as* stole the copper pipe that connects my air conditioning unit to my house. I have called a ton of companies and they must be really busy bc only one called me back and provided a quote - but it seems really high - $1,300. I have zero clue if that is high, reasonable, low, etc and was wondering if anyone ever had a similar repair.

Answer:

I can't say whether that estimate is reasonable or not but do have a suggestion on what you may do to find out. Do a search for contractor referral service and pick which ever you would like. Most of these services will prescreen contractors and will match your project needs to their network of local contractors. Contractors will call you usually within 2 days and you will receive multiple estimates from local companies willing to complete your project just a suggestion. good luck!
don't know but, if it was stolen.your insurance might cover it. good luck kelly
That seems high to me, get more estimates. Put some duct tape over the ends of the pipe that was cut to keep water and bugs out. Make sure the breaker is off to outside unit. Prices vary according to location. Why didn't they steal the condensing unit as they normally do? It may be next.
