Question:

How much is it to repair a dented or broken rear passenger axle on a 99 chevy lumina?

Got into a car accident yesterday, was struck from the side and the truck hit my rear passenger tire. it‘s currently stationary and parked in a local garage. I‘m trying to figure out if the car‘s worth repairing or if i need to start surfing craigslist. The axle may be snapped, possibly bent. I‘m trying to ball park figures via google, but i‘m getting nowhere.any help is appreciated, thanks!

Answer:

If the axle is bent even the slightest, it is ruined and depending on who does the work and what else needs to be replaced or fixed while replacing the axle - your looking at spending at least $1,200.00 to over $2,000.00 to fix and replace the rear axle. Also, if something hit you hard enough to bend the axle, it almost certainly bent the frame, too. I am glad you seem to not have been hurt, but sorry for giving you the bad news and I wish you luck surfing craigslist.
youd be better off getting a th400 built for it than trying to mess with a stick. the 700r4 will never be as strong as a th400. heck the th350 is stronger than the 700r4, and with the th350/400 you have no computer to deal with :)
i don't think that car has a rear axel .hub assembly probably.new hub $100 labour $100 rear wheel alignment $100
neglect it. as quickly as the axle is broken, the vehicle is trash. it may value too plenty and could probable in no way be secure returned to restoration the axle. It occurs to the terrific human beings. do not beat your self up!
