Question:

How much tire pressure in psi is appropriate for my 22" tires?

I have a 2002 BMW 745I. I am increasing to 22 from the original 19 stock tires. The stock tires are Pirelli PZero Rosso 245/45 R19 98W and 275/40 R19 101W. The new tire sizes are Pirelli PZero Nero 265/30 ZR22 (97Y) and 295/25 ZR22 (97Y). What is the correct tire pressure for the front and rear tires? Help. Thank You

Answer:

ok, do not add air to the max level period, on your driverside door it will state what the pressure will be for front and back or contact the store where you bought your tires, or the dealer, not yahoo answers, your going to get a lot of assumptions here.
I would recommend that you fill them to somewhere between 35 and 40psi of pressure. As long as they are in that range and all four tires are kept at the same pressure then you'll be fine. With such a low profile tire you're going to have a very stiff/bumpy ride regardless of how much pressure have in your tires.
The front tires at the factory recommended base inflation presure of 32 psi have a load capacity of 1,488 pounds. The rears at 35 psi have load capacity of 1,764 pounds. That is what you have to try and match with the new tires. The front 265/30R22 97Y tires at 39 psi gets you a load capacity of 1,521 pounds or at 38 psi a load of 1,477 pounds. I'd go with 39 psi. The rear 295/25R22 97Y tires have a maximum load 1,609 pounds at 42 psi which is short of what it should be by 155 pounds. Even a 305/25R22 99Y gets you only 1,709 pounds at 42 psi.
