Question:

how should i store my motorcycle?

winter is approaching and i need to store my bike somewhere, i have no garage and little money. i was thinking of making an A frame with plywood on it to give some shelter from the snow (i do have a cover but when snow sits on it the moister seeps through). then there is the whole gas situation, what should i put in the tank to keep the gas from going bad? my neighbor told me about some stuff last year but i don‘t recall what it is. should i also clean and lube my chain before i store it away?

Answer:

Since you ask about a A frame I assume a house with a yard, that is what I would do. Just a 6 foot wide by 8 foot long. A pair of 8 foot by 8 foot panels, 10- 2x3x8' studs, 4- sheets of 4'x8'x3/8 plywood, shingled. Leave the ends open. You are in Maryland, just north of D.C Your weather isn't that horridly bad. You will have bright sunny days some in the Winter, where the streets have been cleaned. Ride the bike! If not, just run the engine for about 5-10 minutes every other week.
Some hybrid cars do this but they use the energy to charge the batteries. This might be a good place to look for information.
