Most detectors don't react with every single photon that hit them. They interect randomly. For instance, in a semi-conductor detector, the photon creates a electron-hole pair, which then creates a tension that will be measured. But, that pair can get absorbed as heat before creating that electrical field and that photon will be lost. So, we average out all these effects by calling it detective quantum efficiency. What it does, it's that you'll lose some information, some photons, and some intensity.

Change isn't bad, it can be good and-or bad, but it is really neither. It just is. We are MAN. We adapt, we survive. Now we want to control but we can't yet. People talk about all the loss of change, but do not see the loss as an opening, a beginning for something else. We wouldn't be here to wring our hands about change if change hadn't given our ancestors the opportunities that they jumped on to make us what we are. Things are always dying off, and being replaced. Deal with it.
