Question:

How to change tire sizes?

I currently have Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S (215/60R16 95V) tires in my car. I want to switch to low profile, wider tires. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3 (225/50R16 92Y). Can you switch the size of the tires like that? I have 2008 Hyundai Sonata SE

Answer:

your speedo will only change slightly like 1mph. the tires you're looking at are wider than your originals and may give you a little bulge which can give you minor sway around corners, that you will not be able to notice. i personally do not recommend going to a lower profile tire because the biggest impact is made on comfort, and the lower you go, the more crap you feel while driving around and you risk bending a rim on a pot hole or something. the lower profile tires are a little more visually appealing, but try and steer clear from attempting to turn your sonata into eye candy. if you're just trying to pick those lower profile tires because they're a lot less expensive, then i'd say go for it! the pros and cons are small
The tire will physically fit on the rim but 2 things: -the tire sidewall height is too low which will cause the speedo to read higher than actual speed and -you are stepping down in the load rating. Your Sonata may be to heavy for those tires.
