Question:

how to choose a correct E.motor ?

hi, i am doing my final yea project and i have decided to build a electric can crusher, i have performed some laboratory test and it take around 3000 N force to crush some cans. now i need to choose my E.motor and not sure which one to choose, and also not sure what gear ratio i need for my sprokets.thanks

Answer:

It has a smaller DC motor (maybe 200 watts) but it is run thru a 1:160 gearbox or so. With a capability of pulling about 800 lbs vertically and 3000 lbs in rolling wheel mode it has the 3000N of force you need. You could mount the winch to a small frame and simply hook the cable to a box with a sliding piston that crushes the can.
Easy man,,,,,,,, just go for a motor which has an power greater than 3000N or you select a low power motor and increase the gear ratio..... come on man do it........
