Question:

How to clean a giant rug?

So i practily live in my basement. Its a hard wood floor but my moms stupid dog as come down and peed on it countless times. It seems like an easy fix case u would usualy just spray it down where the pee was and clean it up. Problem is my rug is black so i cant see the stains .Im sick of the smell and my friends dont want to come over cause of it. I dont want to have to get rid of the rug ... i cant take it outside cause its gross and wet and raining all week. What should i do?

Answer:

Spray vinegar and vacuum dry. I suggest to be friend with the dog. I observe it myself everytime i get angry with my dog. She will make a mess. Teach, love, play and take care of the dog. You will see the outcome gradually. And when the sun shines, best to wash and dry the carpet outside.
ok, see in case you an get a number of your acquaintances to help you, it gets the job executed plenty swifter! Make 2 piles on your room. One pile = shop. One pile = TRASH. i think of you get the assumption with that ;) you could sell the belongings you do no longer shop (: TIP - do away with something you haven't any longer utilized in a three hundred and sixty 5 days, you will no longer omit it! See in case you have any colourful packing packing containers mendacity around your domicile. Label them and fill them with products for that reason. placed on some music whilst cleansing, you will artwork swifter that way. purchase a severe-high quality trash can from the keep so once you do make a multitude, you could throw your trash in suited away somewhat of leaving it to gather airborne dirt and mud. Make your mattress as quickly as you awaken, do no longer pass away it and say i'm going to do it later, considering the fact which you will no longer, you will forget! shop your domicile windows open to enable in clean air. purchase a mini vacuum so which you would be able to shop issues sparkling as quickly because it gets grimy. good success! :D
If you want to solve your problem for good You should hire rug cleaner to solve your problem. This can be very challenging and time consuming process. You can pay $2 or $3 a sf. You have to wash with shampoo and water and must dry properly otherwise you will have mold problem.
You can probably use some spray for now to eliminate the odor. You may want to try to pressure wash it. If that doesn't work then try using some sort of stain remover product. You probably should find a way to keep the dog out of the room.
Lets see: spraying will only mask the odor, not eliminate anything. The odor will come right back. Pressure washing... good idea in the basement, shouldn't take more that a month for the rug to dry, by which time everything in the basement will be covered in black mold, including you. Stain remover product???? lets see, stains on a black rug? no, actually you can see them if you go get a black light from somewhere. Urine glows under black light. Do yourself a favor, roll up the rug, and you and a couple of friends carry it outside into the rain, unroll it and let the rain soak thru it as long as possible. When it stops raining, roll it up with help and hang it over a fence or railing of some sort to dry. The rolling up makes it easier to handle and carry, otherwise you end up dragging it on the ground, and it gets filthy on the bottom. It will take a few days to dry. Meanwhile, go to your moms vet's office and ask them for the stuff that kills urine odor. The solution sold by vets is much better than anything you can buy at a pet store, my experience. You may want 2 bottles, because you are going to spray both sides of the rug with this stuff. Hopefully, you will saturate the urine from both sides and the chemical, which is actually a living enzyme solution, will eat the odor molecules. Be sure to give that wood floor a thorough washing with ammonia and hot water, and a mop.
