Question:

how to dispose of used tires?

I am looking to replace all 4 tires and was wondering what to do with the old tires? Does anyone know what‘s the best thing to do with the old worn out tires? I live in Columbus, OH.

Answer:

That's about all you can do is change the fluid and filter. A major tune-up would also help (That's when all fluids, filters and spark plugs are changed). If you engine is running smooth it helps take a load off the transmission
Flush your transmission if possible once a year. Use some kind of additive to keep the tranny fluid cooler. Check the tranny fluid at every oil , Drive good, racing, sudden acceleration hurt engine and transmission
Dont get a trans flush Dont get any work done a Jiffy Lube--or any similar outfit. Drain the transmission pan and refill. This does not get all the fluid out so do this about once a week for a while. I am assuming there is a drain plug on your trans pan. Make sure you use the recommended trans fluid as specified by the owners manual--no substitutes.
I live in Akron, I take my old tires to the Wal-Mart Vehicle Maintenance Center closest to me. I go in and tell them I have old tires and they tell me what to do with them. They take them somewhere to recycle them and it's free. Just give the tires to them and they take care of it.
Bring used tires to either a tire retailer, service station or local recycling facility that accepts and must then recycle tires. First, confirm that the selected location is currently accepting used tires Notice when or if a local municipality offers a tire amnesty. The program allows local citizens to deposit a limited number of used tires at a drop off site for free.
