Question:

how to fix a melted spot on a carpet?

i put a very hot pot on a carpet

Answer:

get a new carpet, and throw away that bastard pot
CALL A CARPET STORE. It is worth what it will cost to have a professional fix it. (probably about $100-150). If you don't have any extra carpet, have them take some out of a closet and just replace it with a remnant of similar color. This way the repair carpet will be of the same dye lot. They will cut out a square, seam in a patch and restretch the carpet. It is worth having a carpet professional do it for you. The results won't be perfect, but it will look WAY better than if you did it yourself.
first off , WHY ?? , you need to have some of the same carpet , cut out the bad carpet ( you need to cut it out between the row's ) then do the same with the piece that you are going to put in ( make sure that it's the same size ) then silicone the edges on both pieces and let it dry , next put double face tape down on top of the pad ( if glued down skip this step ) then you need to use seam glue on all edges , next carefully put in the new piece and roll it with a tractor (carpet tool ) then set something heavy on top of it and let it dry over night and roll it with the tractor again.
