How to fix leaking fluid from axle right rear on 2003 ford ranger?

Answer:

It's either a wheel cylinder, if you have drum brakes, or an axle seal. Smell the fluid to see what it is. Brake fluid or gear oil.
I just wanted to say this: I'm no expert but if it is the differential, do not mess around. Get that thing fixed immediately if not sooner. I know someone who waited a few days and he was driving down the highway when the differential seized and actually snapped the rear axle right in half, one half, axle, wheel, etc., literally FLEW OFF and the back left corner of the truck hit the asphalt -- did not end well. I'm just passing this along in case that's what it is.
Is it the brake or the axle? If its brake fluid you need a new wheel cylinder or rebuild yours, and if its the axle seal leaking 80-90 weight oil you need a new axle shaft seal, not a hard job to do yourself really either one. If it is the brake cylinder you will have to bleed brakes when done.
